Advantages of Machining Center

Convenient and efficient processing

When processing workpiece parts with complex shapes, the number of tooling can be greatly reduced. If you need to temporarily change the shape and size of the processed parts during the processing, you only need to modify the CNC program of the processed parts.

High processing quality

The workpiece parts processed by the CNC through CNC programming are of stable quality, high processing accuracy and high repeat accuracy, and can be applied to modern industrial processing and manufacturing fields such as aerospace, ship propellers, and car box parts.

High Precision Vertical Machining Center
Compact Horizontal Machining Center

Fast processing efficiency

The machining center is more efficient in the production of small batches and multiple varieties, because it can reduce production preparation, equipment adjustment and process inspection time. Since the machining center can perform the optimal cutting amount, the cutting time is reduced.

Strong processing performance

It can process complex curved surfaces that are difficult to handle with conventional methods and the inside of the workpiece that cannot be observed. Such as tube mold, precision hole, medical equipment, crafts and so on.

Parts of the Machining Center

Machine Tools
Each of the tools inside has a targeted task-machining center. Each of the tools is flexible, accurate, and efficient in cutting where feed for cutting is available. This gives you the flexibility necessary to solve almost all machining tasks.

Control System
The CNC control system is the main brain of the machine center, allowing even the most difficult actions to be programmed with precision.
CNC assures accuracy in giving orders while ensuring it does not change the behavior of the machine. An updated control system means maximum drilling precision and productivity in your machining, which drives your manufacturing process to a new level.

Workholding Devices
Workholding devices include the fixture and chucking systems that hold the workpiece in a secure manner. Fixtures are instrumental in holding and supporting workpieces.

Chucking systems are designed for gripping the workpiece securely to allow precise machine processing with less accommodation on the dimension of the workpiece. These important components ensure the quality of the finished product.

Spindle Area
The main body is a housing area for the spindling main zone of the machining center, where caters are tightly and accurately held under driving rotations.
A motor is used for to drive the spindle giving you greater speed and precisions.

Taper-Feed Mechanism
It specifies precisely where the cutting tool is needed and exactly when, with a very high level of accuracy. This part directs the degree of cut to bring you a smooth and precise output. For a perfect final material, you have to make sure that the taper feed and the motor are synchronized.

Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) System
The tool exchanger will ensure the change of tools within a split second, thus eliminating all manual practices and equally reducing cycle time.

Tool Magazine
This is the home for cutting tools like mills, drills, and thread-tapping tools. It is actually the epicenter of your machining journey. The magazine with your tools enables you to pick your tools in their right places smoothly.

Automatic Pallet Changer (APC) System
Let the APC take your productivity to the next level without interruption. The effectiveness with which APC systems work is due to the automation put in place.
With workpiece loading and unloading tasks interchanged with a preloaded amount of pallets, efficiency is realized in the machine. This provides you with ergonomic automatic setup and one-man operation while reducing downtime.

Chip and Coolant Handling System
It adds power for cleaning and working properly with the chip and coolant handling system. From chip conveyors to coolant delivery, waste and temperature stay under control, securing a good working space.
This part would help ensure longer machine life and the performance, which is the main definition for working without interruptions.

Overload and Wear Detectors
Wear detectors and overload protection are guaranteed to keep your machining journey safe. They work as sentinels in the most vigilant way they can, monitoring the health of the tool and the integrity of the machine. They alert you if there is a deviation from the normal condition before it materializes.

Automatic Door Operation Mechanism
Step into convenience and safety with the automatic door operation mechanism. It makes your working and access environment easy to get into by automatically opening and closing.

Applications of Machining Center

Industrial:

Industrial manufacturers use CNC machines to create various tools, equipment and components. Some examples of specific industrial applications include industrial pumps, construction equipment and impellers.

Energy:

The energy industry relies on CNC machines to produce thousands of durable components that can withstand harsh and hazardous environments. This includes wind turbine nacelles, valves, fluid ends and flanges. Many of the pieces also require tight concentricity tolerance.

Automotive:

Automotive manufacturers use CNC machines to increase production efficiency in the face of growing demand. Gearboxes, engine blocks and axles are examples of components this industry creates with CNC machining centers.

Aerospace:

The aerospace industry is responsible for producing vehicles and systems that can cost people's lives when manufactured incorrectly. Consequently, they need CNC machines to create complex, accurate and heavy-duty parts that can withstand high pressures and temperatures. Some examples of aerospace components include propellers, valves and gearbox housings.

Types of Machining Center

Vertical Machining Centers
Vertical machining centers have the spindle and workpiece oriented vertically. The workpiece is processed from the top, making it easy to check the status for each machining process. Many are relatively compact, and are suitable for high-mix, low-volume production of small precision parts.

Horizontal Machining Centers
Horizontal machining centers have their spindle and the workpiece oriented horizontally. These make side cutting easier and are suited to continuous multi-face machining. In addition, as chips fall naturally, these lower the risk of tool damage due to residual scraps. On the other hand, care must be taken when working with heavy workpieces as their own dead weight makes the workpieces susceptible to distortion and deflection.

Gantry Machining Centers
Gantry machining centers have a double column shape, making them suitable for cutting of larger workpieces. Generally, cutting is performed by moving the gantry columns and spindle with the workpiece fixed in place. These are mainly used for large, heavy workpieces, such as aircraft parts, large molds, and railway components.

5-Axis Machining Centers
The 5-axis machining center is a machine tool with two rotating axes in addition to travel in the X-, Y-, and Z-axes. Their wide range of axis movement makes these machining centers suited to machining of workpieces with curved surfaces and complex geometry. Also, 5-axis machining centers enable machining to be performed with fewer changeovers.

Main axes of a Machining Center

X-Axis: Controls the left and right movement of the tool or worktable.

>>

Y-Axis: Governs the forward and backward movement of the tool or worktable.

>>

Z-Axis: Manages the up and down movement of the tool or worktable.

>>

A-Axis: Controls the rotation around the X-axis.

>>

B-Axis: Handles the rotation around the Y-axis.

>>

C-Axis: Responsible for the rotation around the Z-axis.

FAQ

Q: What materials cannot be laser cut?

A: Materials such as PVC and vinyl should not be processed because they release harmful chlorine gas during cutting.

Q: How thick can a laser cutter cut?

A: The thickness depends on material type and laser power. Industrial fiber lasers can cut steel plates over 20 mm thick.

Q: What gas is used in laser cutting?

A: Common assist gases include oxygen, nitrogen, and compressed air.

Q: How accurate is laser cutting?

A: Industrial laser cutting machines typically achieve precision between ±0.05 mm and ±0.1 mm.

Q: Do laser cutters use a lot of electricity?

A: On average, laser cutters consume between 1.5 kW and 10 kW per hour, depending on the machine's configuration, power rating, and the specific cutting process.

Q: How to choose a laser cutter?

A: When identifying a suitable CNC laser cutter and an accompanying CNC machine, consider factors such as laser wavelength, power rating, cutting speed for your materials, bed size, software compatibility, support services, and machine durability to ensure it meets your specific needs.

Q: How deep can a laser cutter cut?

A: High-power laser cutters, boasting up to 60kW, can slice through materials as thick as 200mm to 300mm. The greater the power, the deeper the cut.
